Understanding & Addressing Family Homelessness

March 18, 10:00-11:30 a.m. – Understanding Family Homelessness 101

Ohio has made great strides in addressing family homelessness. In this webinar, we’ll address the additional needed community-based strategies, that will ensure every member of the household experiencing homelessness is offered the services and supports needed. In addition, we will look at causes of family homelessness, common challenges, data, and hear from providers who have found success in both urban and rural settings.

Date & time TBD – Addressing Family Homelessness With a Two-Generation Approach

Families experiencing homelessness has been proven to be traumatic for adults and the children in the household. Services in the homeless system are unequally targeted to the adults even though homelessness exposes children to high toxic stress levels, which can take a toll on physical and emotional growth and development. Presenters will share strategies for providing supports and other resources that help families with children experiencing homelessness to overcome long-term barriers and gain self-sufficiency.

Date & time TBD – Meeting the Behavioral Needs of Families in the Homeless and Housing System

Families experience a variety of obstacles as they matriculate through the homeless system. This can be exacerbated by a family having a severe and persistent mental illness. In this webinar, learn how provider have met the behavioral health needs of individuals who have experienced homelessness and assisted them with getting and maintaining housing.
