THE RICHMOND IS READY FOR MARJAN
Dear Neighbor,
Supervisor Connie Chan has failed our neighborhood and our city. We’ve had enough.
Rather than leading through complex issues, Connie Chan has promoted political pet projects while our streets and infrastructure deteriorate.
In the face of rampant lawlessness, Connie Chan believes it is time to dismantle the police rather than
listen to our community.
She instead asks that we all “look inside ourselves” to reduce crime. Meanwhile, our residents and merchants continue to be victimized. Connie Chan supports the misguided injunction prohibiting the removal of dangerous tent encampments. She refuses to fight for the arrest of those who supply deadly fentanyl to the most vulnerable members of our community. She refuses to fight for conservatorship laws that will remove from the streets those who are a risk to themselves and others.
But we hold out hope for a new direction.
Already, westside voters are demanding an end to the failed status quo Connie Chan represents:
Voters are demanding an end to the failed status quo:
•
Her allies on the Board of Education were recalled by a majority of Richmond District
voters after failing to serve our kids in crisis.
•
Her ally in the District Attorney’s office was recalled by a majority of Richmond District voters after failing to enact reforms and enforce the law.
•
Her ballot measure intended to stifle housing production was defeated by a majority of Richmond District voters.
•
Her close ally in City Hall, Sunset District Supervisor Gordon Mar, was ousted in an historic rejection of an incumbent Supervisor in 2022.
We need a leader who knows our neighborhood and will fight every day to make it a better place to live.
Marjan Philhour is the leader we need.
Marjan was born in the Richmond, where she and her husband are raising their three kids. She has co-founded and supported our local merchants associations, and owned a local gift shop and pottery studio with her sister for several years. She has volunteered for her local PTA, served on boards of local community groups, and understands first hand the challenges families and local businesses face. Marjan has demonstrated her strong commitment to our neighborhood and has the know-how to get things done. She is the voice we need in City Hall.
Richmond District voters know Marjan and support Marjan. In November 2020, she came within 125 votes out of 36,076 cast (0.36%) of defeating Connie Chan. Since that time, Connie Chan has been tested, and has failed those tests repeatedly. The Richmond District has the chance to chart a new direction. There is no other viable candidate who can defeat incumbent Supervisor Connie Chan.
The time has come to say, “Enough is enough.” We’re ready for Marjan Philhour to be the next Supervisor for the Richmond District.
