Hurricane Dorian slammed the Bahamas as a Category 5 storm, causing mass devastation and leaving a humanitarian crisis. In its aftermath, many international, national, and local agencies are providing life-saving on-the-ground work, delivering food, water, diapers, and more—as well as helping residents rebuild.
Chef José Andrés and his charity, World Central Kitchen, have delivered about 10,000 meals per day to people impacted by Dorian. They hope to reach 30,000 meals per day.
In advance of the storm, Team Rubicon helped vulnerable communities prepare for impact by filling sandbags and boarding up windows. Now, their medical strike teams are treating people in remote locations, while other teams are delivering supplies and rebuilding homes.
After more than 100 Bahamians were denied entry to the U.S., Daily Kos began mobilizing support for them to be given safe refuge in the U.S.
Please chip in whatever is meaningful to you to help provide food, shelter, and advocacy for Dorian survivors.
