EDIT, 4p MST 20 April 2020: I’m on the phone with my franchisee right now. So some updates from them:
--Apparently there are masks en route, the problem is that they’re running into shortages and have to send masks to the states that are mandating masks first. (And they’re in seven states, not five.)
--The social media “don’t post, or get fired” policy I spoke of was apparently through my previous franchisee, but was presented as being Taco Bell policy, not franchisee policy. So that isn’t on DDO at all, it’s a case of someone from a previous franchisee misrepresenting their own policies.
--DDO uses my state’s sick leave policy for all seven states they’re in, which means one of my biggest frustrations—that people in states without sick leave policies would be left vulnerable—is a nonissue for my franchise.
--This one is entirely me not realizing “terminate” is a term used for any time you have to put in the computer that you won’t be working for awhile. It’s still counted as a furlough, benefits already earned don’t go anywhere, those of us who earn stuff like vacation continue to accrue while we’re out, sick time accrues for everyone, and we don’t start back at square one when we come back.
--I guess a couple of people in the comments have said something about health insurance. (I didn’t really have a chance to read anything before I got the phone call.) We do actually get health insurance through my franchise. I don’t know what corporate’s policy is because I’ve never worked for a corporate store, but you can get it through my franchise.
--My franchisee would like me to note that I’ve ordered the materials for masks, but haven’t gotten them yet. (I had to order elastic through eBay because there’s literally none anywhere in my metro area.)
--Apparently the tray thing comes from corporate. My franchisee is following a corporate policy that I guess was actually tested in California before it came over here, and it worked okay there. I’m not sure what the discrepancy is in my store or general area, but it is something that was actually tested.
--They’d like me to take this down altogether, but I feel like for the sake of clarity it may be better to leave the post itself with the conversation I’ve just had so people can get the information I didn’t have when I wrote this, and just remove the original content.
--I’m also going to be retrained. They’re not sure I actually went through DDO training when I came over from my previous franchisee, and a lot of stuff I’ve talked about here is based on policies I learned from my previous franchisee and didn’t know didn’t transfer over. They want to make sure I’ve got actual policies and facts to draw on so I don’t end up training someone else off bad info. Especially since I’m in a supervisory position, people look to me to get information on what’s happening in the store, and if I don’t know I can’t help them or may even end up harming them.
--Probably the biggest thing I’ve gotten from this is I need to go up the chain of command to get answers before I post something out of fear or frustration. It’s a frightening situation right now and I let it get to me, which really isn’t a good look, especially for a supervisor.
