Minnesota saw a spike Thursday in the number of long-term care facilities reporting COVID-19 exposures.

State Department of Health officials added a dozen new facilities to a growing list of centers were at least one resident, staffer or contractor has tested positive for the coronavirus. The state only provides details on facilities with 10 or more residents in order to protect patient privacy.

Here’s where the 53 facilities the state has released the names of are located:

The majority of the facilities — 36 on the state list — are in the Twin Cities metro area. Hennepin County, epicenter of the state’s COVID-19 outbreak, also has the most long-term care facilities reporting outbreaks with 19. Ramsey County has eight with reported exposures.

Elderly residents and those with underlying health conditions are considered most at risk of critical complications if they catch the coronavirus. The state has seen 50 COVID-19 related deaths and about half have been residents of long-term care.
