FLIGHT ATTENDANTS at SW Airlines ratified their new contract by 81%! Congratulations. It was a long hard fight for them. The upside is that they made a lot of friends, including these from SAG-AFTRA, AFL-CIO, and Texas Alliance for Retired Americans.

We in TARA are all very sad about the loss of our dear super activist friend Elaine Jones. She was one of the TARA charter members and served many years as the first and then most recent Treasurer. She was a Coastal Bend chapter member and “always did whatever was needed” said TARA President Gene Lantz. Elaine and Field Organizer Judy Bryant became longtime good friends working on the Texas AFT Legislative Committee. “Elaine was hard working, caring and fun to be around” said Bryant. “We were so fortunate to know and serve with her. We will miss her greatly.”

A memorial service will be held mid May. Her family has asked for memorial gifts to the Texas AFLCIO Scholarship Fund or a charity of your choice. Firm details will be shared soon.
