‘Tax The Rich’ Plane Flies Over Levittown Area
A plane carrying a banner that read “Tax The Rich” made its way over the Levittown area last Friday and caught the attention of numerous people.
The banner was part of efforts by The 99% Pennsylvania campaign, which is part of the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center, to pressure Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, of Middletown Township, to support the Build Back Better Plan.
Democratic President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better Agenda calls for changing the tax code, lowering childcare costs for families, decreasing health care costs, cutting taxes for many families, investing in workforce training and new jobs, and increasing taxes for the richest Americans and corporations who the administration said don’t pay their “fair share.”
The Build Back Better Agenda could cost several trillion dollars, according to a CNBC article from earlier this year. The administration counters that the plan would spur the economy and create a more just system.
The $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill is part of the agenda, and it will soon be up for a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives.
In interviews and statements, Fitzpatrick has signaled he supports the bill.
Fitzpatrick’s office has not responded to LevittownNow.com‘s request for an interview or comment on the bill in August and September. In addition, his office has not released any statements via their website on the bill.
Left-of-center polling group Navigator found that 54 percent of Americans support Biden’s Build Back Better Agenda.
The 99% Pennsylvania held a rally outside of Fitzpatrick’s Middletown Township office at the corner of Langhorne-Newtown Road and the Newtown Bypass last Friday calling for Fitzpatrick to support the president’s agenda.
The plane hired by the group was in support of the rally.
Last Wednesday, The 99% Pennsylvania and political groups held a rally in Doylestown Borough and project the “Build Back Better” and “Tax The Rich” taglines onto buildings.
The group recently drove a billboard truck through Bucks County with the message of supporting the Build Back Better Agenda.
