NATIONAL CALL TO ACTION AGAINST DISCRIMINATION AND IN SUPPORT OF OUR AAPI COMMUNITIES IN THE UNITED STATES

NATIONAL CALL TO ACTION AGAINST DISCRIMINATION AND IN SUPPORT OF OUR AAPI COMMUNITIES IN THE UNITED STATES

I hereby join thousands of my fellow Americans in support of our Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities against the rise in hate crimes and xenophobia around COVID-19.

COUNT ME IN and add my name to this important CALL to ACTION! During when we should celebrate our diverse communities, we are unfortunately seeing discrimination and racism on display. That is not acceptable, and I will not stand for it.

When the president of the United States displays his racist and xenophobic attitudes, and inappropriately claims that COVID-19 is a “Chinese virus,” he fans the flames of stigma and hate, which, in turn, leads to acts of harassment, aggression, and violence toward Asians, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders. Our AAPI communities have been subjected to these attacks daily during the three months so far of this pandemic – and they are likely to continue as states re-open. That is not acceptable, and I will not stand for it.

This conduct also puts lives at risk and is a matter of public safety. To keep our communities safe, we must come together to support our AAPI friends, neighbors, and coworkers during this public health crisis.

We, the undersigned, thus resolutely denounce all COVID-19-related attacks on our friends in the Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities and we stand with them against the rise in hate crimes and xenophobia that are specifically aimed at them.

We further call upon all Americans to call attention to these harms and to support the inalienable rights of our Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander communities all across the country to be safe and free from violence and discrimination during this pandemic that affects us all.

I HEREBY AGREE TO HAVE MY NAME PUBLISHED AS A SIGNATORY TO THIS CALL TO ACTION
