January 15—Martin Luther King, Jr’s birthdate—is a significant day every year, and with entry into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons on January 22, we have two things to celebrate in one week! The Nuclear Ban Treaty Collaborative is developing resources for those who want to address both at once. Included here are a banner (sized for 3 x 8, a good size for two people, but it can be printed at half-size for one person or any proportion you choose by a banner shop).
There is also a reflection piece that can be used or adapted for an op-ed for your newspaper. It consists mostly of King’s statements about nuclear weapons in the context of the continuing nuclear danger and the Ban Treaty.
Finally, a sample Letter to the Editor that you can use or adapt—each of these can be used to educate people, reminding them of the powerful leadership of Dr. King on a breadth of social issues and telling them about the Ban Treaty!
