Please join us for a costume rally to stop Danskammer on Tuesday, Oct.26th, outside of the State Capitol Building in downtown Albany. We'll be pushing for Governor Kathy Hochul to deny Danskammer's permits to build a new fracked gas plant on the Hudson River in Newburgh, NY.

Costume theme for the day: Fright or Light. Skulls, skeletons, zombies, scary stuff, horror, darkness, death, all-black clothing... OR...Sunshine, solar energy, wind power, green or blue clothing, oceans, earth, nature, flowers, climate super heros...

Event Details
What: Stop Deathskammer: Light Or Fright Stop Danskammer Costume Rally
When: 4pm SHARP on Tuesday, Oct.26th
Where: West Capitol Park in Albany (cross streets are State Swan). We'll rally at the edge of the Park along State St., and then cruise across the street to the Empire State Plaza Concourse. We'll return to the park for a free pizza dinner!
Why: Governor Hochul has the power to stop Danskammer from being approved! We need to her to protect our health, stand for climate justice, and DENY Danskammer!
Who: The Stop Danskammer Coalition, Food & Water Watch, New Paltz Climate Action Coalition, New Paltz Extinction Rebellion, New York Youth Climate Leaders, Sunrise Movement Westchester, Alliance for a Green Economy, Sierra Club, PAUSE and others!

*Social distancing, masks when necessary, etc encouraged

Meet at West Capitol Park (S.Swan St & State St, Albany). Meter parking available around the park (Come early if you can just in case it's hard to find a space). We'll have a staging area at the edge of the park, along State Street (across from the Legislative Building). We'll do our press conference & rally outside the State St. Entrance to the Capitol Building. Then, we'll cross State street for a short Deathskammer Halloween parade around the pedestrian concourse, and then wrap up back at West Capitol Park with free pizza & softdrinks.

We need some volunteers (especially those in need of costumes) to carry large puppets on a stick. Are you able to carry something (not too heavy but not too light) while walking around/rallying at the event? *This is NOT a requirement to receive a prop/costume accessory- we are just trying to fill volunteer positions.
