In March, Assemblymember David Chiu introduced AB 629, the Seamless and Resilient Bay Area Transit Act, a major milestone in our efforts to create a more rider-friendly and integrated regional transit network.
Assembly Bill 629 instructs Bay Area transit agencies to take a number of immediate steps towards coordination and integration, including establishing a fare integration pilot program, creating a regional transit map and wayfinding system, using real-time transit data to improve rider experience, and identifying a transit priority network to get buses moving faster.
It's important for legislators to hear directly from Bay Area riders and residents about how AB 629 would improve their experience using transit.
AB 629 will be discussed at a number of future public meetings, including transit agency board meetings and legislative committee meetings. When dates are confirmed, Seamless Bay Area will reach out to interested commenters with more information.
