ThruText Instructions

Thank you for agreeing to text Colorado voters for the Yes on Prop. 113, the National Popular Vote!  We appreciate your time helping us, and we hope you have some fun with it!

High level objectives

We will have three main texting campaign focuses before the election on Nov 3.  You will see unique dialog scripts and sets of phone numbers for each of these campaigns.

That said, every interaction is a chance to promote a Yes vote on Prop. 113 and be available to answer questions from anyone who is on the fence.

Getting started

  1. First, watch this 8 minute training video.  It will take you through the mechanics of working with the ThruText platform.
  2. Next, sign up to join ThruText here.  When you see the screen that says “No Active Assignments” please send me an email and I will get you set up with the right texting campaign.
  3. Once you hear back from me,  go back to ThruText, and go to the button at the bottom left of the screen that says “Request Conversations”. Select that button and see your first 300 names / phone numbers to text.

Go ahead and start hitting the red Send button at the bottom middle to start sending texts!

Responses

About 10% of the people you text will respond back.  You will see who is responding because they will start showing up on the left side of your screen. Their responses will fit into one of four categories

  1. They ask to opt out by replying “stop” => Skip the Survey and just click on the blue Opt Out button at the top of the screen.
  2. They respond with a “yes” => mark “yes” in the Survey on the right, then go to the Responses and send them the “yes” message by hitting the “+” sign
  3. They respond with a “no” => mark “no” in the Survey on the right, then go to the Reponses send them the “not a supporter” message by hitting the “+” sign
  4. They respond with some variation of “maybe” “I don’t know” or “tell me more” => mark them down as a “maybe” and send them the “IDK, No Opinion” response.

You will also see that there are additional responses for people who are interested in volunteering, have questions about volunteering, or who respond that, while they support us, they are not interested in volunteering.

You will occasionally get someone who wants to engage in a conversation about NPV.  Please answer their questions or concerns as best as you can, but if you are asked a question you aren’t comfortable answering please don’t hesitate to let me know (Sylvia@yesonnnationalpopularvote.com) and I can either send you the answer or take over the text conversation.

Once you have sent off a reply you should Archive that conversation by choosing the Archive button at the top of the screen. Don’t worry.  As new replies come in they will show up in your inbox again, even if you archived the conversation.

Things to consider

Thank you so much for helping with our texting program!  Please let me know if you have any questions or issues.
