As Election Day approaches, Albany elected officials want voters to know there’s an important ballot proposal at stake this year.

Common Council members, including Council President Corey Ellis, Majority Leader Ginnie Farrell and Gabriella Romero, Council member-elect for Albany’s 6th Ward, will gather at City Hall Tuesday at 12 p.m. to urge voters to vote ‘yes’ on Proposal 7.

Proposal #7, on the ballot during early voting and on November 2 in the City of Albany, will give the current Community Police Review Board the authority to conduct independent investigations of allegations of police misconduct, including the power to subpoena Albany Police Department records.

This ballot measure was unanimously approved by the Albany Common Council and signed by Mayor Kathy Sheehan and must now be approved by voters.
