Change Bauerle Ranch HOA Yard Sign Policy

HOA Board Members & Architectural Control Committee (ACC)

On Monday, September 21st the HOA Board of Directors approved a revised political sign policy. This policy states that “no sign of any kind shall be displayed to the public view on any Lot”. The exceptions do not include yard signs advertising schools, graduation/birthday celebrations, and most notably social causes, including Black Lives Matter.

The new sign policy was created in direct response to Bauerle Ranch neighbors advocating for social justice using one of the few available communication methods during a global pandemic- yard signs. The Board asked the Architectural Control Committee (ACC) to revise the neighborhood policy to allow one yard sign of choice per home. The ACC (a group of unelected volunteers) denied this request in a 2-1 vote, which resulted in the Board approving the revised sign policy on September 21st. Homeowners have 60 days to comply with the new policy. Those who do not may have their yard signs removed and are subject to fines totaling more than $200.

We are a small group of neighbors opposed to this yard sign policy and working to develop an alternative one that allows for homeowners to express their support for local schools,  special occasions, and social justice, including Black Lives Matter. We need your support! Please email the Board (Action Item #1) as this is how they gauge the severity of community concern. We would love for you to get further involved to make change happen in Bauerle Ranch (see Action Items #2, #3, and #4)! If you have questions, you can reach us at BRyardsigns@gmail.com.

Action Items:

  1. Send an email to the Board (2 min): In order for your voice to be “counted” through the official HOA channels, you MUST send an email to the Board at BauRanch@CiraMail.com. Create a personal response voicing your questions or cut and paste the basic template below.

  2. Sign up to attend the next (virtual) Board meeting on Monday, October 19th at 6:30 pm (1 min). We need as many people as possible to be there to voice questions and concerns. We will send updated information and possible talking points closer to the meeting.

  3. Join us for a (virtual) community meeting (1 min). We will hold a community event to share more information about the Board and ACC’s decision, as well as ways to create change in the neighborhood. Time/Date information will be emailed next week , please be on the lookout.

  4. Share this petition widely with your neighbors who also live in the HOA (1 min). We know that a large, collective response will increase our ability to create for a new yard sign policy for our community.
