Let’s Indigenize the City with Indigenous Peoples’ Day:

An antidote to Anti-Indian / Anti-Native racism, white supremacy, and settler colonialism.

The fourth workshop, to be held on Saturday, January 22nd from 1 pm-3:30 pm EST via Zoom, aims to continue to deconstruct stereotypes of “the Indian,” build a narrative in its place that celebrates the wealth of Indigenous cultures, histories, knowledge, and politics, and create an educational environment that is empathetic and caring to Native Americans from across the Americas. This last workshop of the series will be more of a wrap-up. Our goal will be to reflect on what has been accomplished and what can be done to promote awareness of Indigenous peoples throughout Philadelphia in this new year 2022. You are welcome to attend this last one of the series.

We invite local educators, librarians, racial justice advocates, media specialists, and other community leaders to attend this third workshop and to continue to learn about Urban Native Identity and the Lenape in Diaspora. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Native leaders and collaborate in small groups to reflect on what we're able to accomplish in 2021 and on how we can Indigenize the schools, libraries, media, and CITY for Indigenous Peoples Day 2022 and beyond.

If you didn't attend the first, second, and third workshop, facilitators will be sending a recap of what was covered to catch up.
