As we begin to peek out from under the twin shrouds of a dark Vermont winter and a debilitating pandemic, Extinction Rebellion Vermont is presenting the Rated XR media series, which will highlight how Vermonters are resisting a return to "business as usual" and attempting to preserve a livable future.

In this series, planned for release in the weeks around Earth Day 2021, we'll meet Vermonters who have used the spirit of rebellion, in ways big and small, to challenge the mindset that threatens our very survival. We'll hear from a climate scientist who has been studying Vermont's changing climate and what those changes mean to the Green Mountain State. Through it all, we'll discuss ways that XR Vermont and its climate partners are poised to make a dramatic and impactful return to activism in 2021.

"The Climate Consensus – Creating a Multi-Institution Outreach Network" will be presented by Dr. Janel Hanrahan, Associate Professor and Chair of Atmospheric Sciences at Northern Vermont University-Lyndon. She will describe recent efforts to create a climate outreach network that aims to promote more effective dialog between geoscientists and the public.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session with attendees.

Dr. Hanrahan earned her M.S. and PhD in Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. As a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Alberta, she researched extreme rainfall and climate change. Her current research aims to understand how human-caused climate change influences extreme weather. As the founder and director of The Climate Consensus, Dr. Hanrahan works with students to improve climate change literacy among the general public by promoting effective dialog between these groups.

We look forward to seeing you there!
