The 99% PA Campaign Joins National Campaign to Hold Representative Brian Fitzpatrick Accountable for Siding with the Rich Instead of Building Back Better

Campaign will be kicked off by a week of action to hold Republicans accountable for their refusal to back popular and necessary economic policies.

Harrisburg, PA — Today, the 99% PA campaign joined a nationwide campaign first reported by CNBC that’s being kicked off with a week of action calling on Republicans and all members of Congress to choose everyday Americans and pass Biden’s Build Back Better agenda by making the wealthy and corporations pay their fair share. We are calling on Representative Brian FItzpatrick to tax the rich, who have only gotten richer during the pandemic, in order for Pennsylvanians to pay less for prescription drugs and out-of-pocket health care costs; get dental, hearing, and vision as part of Medicare; pay less for child care; get paid family and medical leave; and so much more that our working families need. The choice should be clear.

Poll after poll shows that Americans overwhelmingly support the Democrats’ economic agenda: 70 percent of voters across party lines are in favor of the Build Back Better agenda, and 77 percent of those voters support raising taxes on corporations that don’t pay their fair share.

Jeff Garis, Federal Campaigns and Program Director, 99% PA Campaign commented:

“Congress has a clear choice: side with American families, or side with big corporations and the rich. Representative Fitzpatrick is taking the side of billionaires and big corporations instead of listening to their constituents and supporting President Biden’s economic agenda. President Biden wants to cut costs for families by lowering prescription drug prices, expanding Medicare coverage, making child care more affordable, providing paid family and medical leave, and investing in good-paying jobs that benefit working Pennsylvanians. Lawmakers have a clear choice: stand with everyday Americans or stand with the ultra-rich who don’t pay their fair share.”

Alongside an in-district digital ad campaign, the 99% PA campaign will be putting the spotlight on Bucks County and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick with a mobile billboard in the afternoon and light projection at 6:45PM in Doylestown on Wednesday, Sept. 22nd, a virtual town hall on Thursday, Sept. 23th at 7PM, and a rally outside of Rep. Fitzpatrick’s office in Langhorne and aerial banner flyover on Friday at noon. Several organizations including CASA, MomsRising, Indivisible Bucks County, and Rise Up Doylestown will be joining in solidarity.

The 99% Pennsylvania is a campaign convened by the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center, calling on Congress to take action to advance the well-being of the vast majority of Americans. It’s time for Congress to do something for the rest of us—the 99%.
