RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Local activists are putting pressure on Wisconsin members of Congress to back a proposal that aims to end poverty.
"We cannot end the suffering in our communities with one policy on housing over there and one policy on wages over here and a little tweak to health care over there," said Sarah Weintraub with the Wisconsin's Poor Peoples Campaign. "So, this resolution is a bold and sweeping resolution that really calls on us to address all these things together."
The resolution has a long list of proposed economic policies. They include universal health care, paid leave, raising the minimum wage and guaranteeing the right to form and join unions.
