Ever wonder why there are judges listed on even-year election ballots? What is meant by retention? We don’t elect judges, so why are they on there? Where do I find information on judges?
Voters may have many questions, like these or other, about why they vote on the retention of judges. The Morgan County Democratic Party will hold a nonpartisan look at the judicial process through a Zoom discussion to try to offer some answers.
Join in at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, for this Zoom discussion led by Kent Wagner, Executive Director of the Colorado Office of Judicial Performance Evaluation.
“It is not uncommon for voters to leave the judicial questions blank on their ballots. It is a question we get from our membership every election season,” Morgan County Democratic Party Chair April Bowen said. “So we decided if our members are wondering about it, other voters are likely wondering, as well.”
The virtual online presentation will be held via Zoom at 7 p.m. Sept. 8. Participants do need to register, as space is limited due to licensing restrictions. Voters from all persuasions are welcome to attend and learn about this important part of the judiciary and election processes.
Democratic candidates also have been invited to attend, and they may speak after the discussion.
