Mental Health First Aid Virtual Training

Calendar of Upcoming Classes

Mental Health First Aid is a training course that gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem, or experiencing a crisis, and help connect them to the appropriate care.

The course is delivered in two parts. The first is a 2-hour self-paced online course that must be completed prior to the second part which is a 6 hour virtual live instructor led session. There is also a brief online post-class quiz and evaluation.

  • Once the class size minimums have been met, we will enroll you in the course for the date you have selected and send you an email with the information you will need to log-in to the MHFA Connect site to complete your pre-work.
  • For the live virtual class you will need to have Zoom installed and a working camera and microphone as it is interactive and you will be asked to turn on your camera.

Registration closes 3 days before a class so you can do your pre-work. Please do not sign up for a class just 3 days before if you will not be able to complete the pre-work in the short time frame left prior to the class. If you don’t find a date that works for you, please check back as new classes are posted on a monthly basis.

Upon completing the course you will receive a three-year certification as a Mental Health First Aider. If you’d like more information on the training or to see the transfer/cancellation policy, please click here.

IATSE Members and those working under IATSE agreements may be eligible for Training Trust Fund reimbursement upon proof of successful completion.

A limited number of partial and full scholarships are available to individuals not eligible for reimbursement. Click here to complete the scholarship application. If you reside in Canada, training is available through the AFC at https://afchelps.ca/mhfa.
