East of the River Mutual Aid 

We are part of the DC Mutual Aid Network. After a core organizer from BLM DC, April helped facilitate the creation of the Facebook group; organizers divided within wards under the banner that we will #KeepEachOtherSafe. The Pandemic was in DC and the East of the River was highly affected. We were already living in a food desert and we all know that we could not trust our government to cover our basic needs. Organizers from groups such as Black Swan Academy, Black Lives Matter DC, Peace House DC, Stop Police Terror Project DC, and Peace Fellowship Church came together to form East of the River Mutual AId to help our neighbors in Ward 7 and 8. We have worked none stop delivering produce, groceries, cleaning supplies, diapers, and hygiene items. We enjoyed Mutual Aid pop-up events with our community members. Your support is needed in order to continue and sustain this work.
