JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — People in Johnson City joined with thousands throughout the country in a Workers First caravan for racial and economic justice.
Participants called on lawmakers to enact new polices that address what they say are three major crises facing America: a public health pandemic, an economic free fall, and long-standing systemic racism in our communities.
The group hopes to bring to light to the need for policing reforms and recognizing the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on workers of color.
"People aren't being taken care of," organizer Arvil Love said. "Jobs aren't there. Healthcare's not there. We are trying to support them all."
The event was created by AFL-CIO labor council.
Afterwards, members of the group moved on to help others throughout the state with their caravans.
