St. Louis County is seeking proposals from community-based organizations to help address issues in the areas of mental health, food insecurity and youth substance abuse.

The county is offering between $20,000 and $100,000 in funding support for a year for project initiatives that address one of those three health priorities, according to a news release from the county.

Those three priority issues were identified during the 2019 community health assessment for St. Louis County.

"So much of our focus has shifted to the pandemic these last few months, but we can't forget there are still many other community health priorities," said Public Health Division Director Amy Westbrook. "Much of the work we do is in partnership with organizations and agencies across the county, and this is another example of how we can work together to promote healthy communities in St. Louis County.”

To qualify, the project does not have to be new, but does need to be prevention-focused and innovative, the news release said. The proposal should demonstrate how it will support and serve individuals affected by at least one of the three health priorities.

Projects must take place within the county and serve its residents. The projects also must take place between Oct. 1, 2020 and Sept. 30, 2021. The deadline to submit a proposal is Aug. 30.
