The Maine Democratic Party (MDP) is seeking Field Organizers to implement our statewide field operation. Between now and November 2022, our field program will be crucial for empowering our local communities to deliver Democratic victories, building and training our volunteer base, and organizing in support of our 2022 candidates up and down the ticket. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to electing Maine Democrats.

Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with local Democratic partners, allied organizations, and other local leaders
  • Attend local events to recruit volunteers, spread our message, and build community relationships
  • Execute voter contact efforts, such as phone banks, canvasses, and voter registration
  • Recruit, develop and train volunteer teams and leaders
  • Work directly with county and municipal Democratic organizations
  • Support all levels of volunteer structure to develop organizing skills and build capacity
  • Amplify MDP message by creating online communities through social media
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Field Director

Qualifications and Skills

  • Enthusiasm for Democratic politics
  • Campaign experience as a field organizer preferred, but not required (applicants with rural organizing or digital/remote organizing experience are especially encouraged to apply)
  • Relationship-building and volunteer management experience
  • Working knowledge of and experience with VAN (desired, but not required)
  • Strong communications and organizational skills, ability to work independently, and manage multiple tasks
  • Experience organizing and executing successful, engaging trainings
  • Deadline and results-driven leader
  • Commitment to principles of anti-racism and equity, experience or desire to learn skills for working effectively with volunteers and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and identities
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Ties to Maine preferred but not required

The Field Organizer will report to the Field Director. Salary is dependent on experience and is in the $40,000 range. Generous benefits offered. Field Organizers will be stationed throughout the state. This position will run through the November 2022 election. The Maine Democratic Party staff is unionized and proud to be represented by IBEW Local Union #1837 for collective bargaining.
