On June 27, 2020, World BEYOND War hosted a "virtual chapter open house" with our chapter coordinators and members from around the world! World BEYOND War's Executive Director David Swanson and Organizing Director Greta Zarro talked about WBW's mission and campaigns, and how to build the peace movement within the context of the current issues we're facing, from the coronavirus pandemic, to systemic racism, to ongoing climate change. Do I Run a Campaign in My Community How Do I Recruit Other People To Join those Are All the Questions That I'M Happy To Help with on a Daily Basis and To Work with Our Volunteers like You all To Do this Kind of Work in Your Communities and Our Three Main Campaigns Number One Are Peace Education Number Two Weapons Divestment and Number Three Closing Military Bases so Number One Peace Education or Anti War Education Is Really the Core of What We Do It all Started with Our Book a Global Security System and Alternative to War but Really Laid Out the Strategies Needed To Get Us to this World beyond War

You Know What Are We Talking about When We Use the Term Grassroots Organizing and for Me It Means Building a Movement around a Certain Issue and Being Strategic about It So Setting Clear Goals Strategies and Using Appropriate Tactics To Achieve those Strategies and Goals and that's Something Else That I Help Our Chapter Coordinators with Is To Develop Strategies and To Do Organizing Trainings To Talk about all of these Terms in More Depth and at the End of the Day It's Really about Using Our People Power Power in Numbers To Put Pressure on Key Decision-Makers To Do What We Want To Achieve the World That We Want To See So What Is a Chapter if There Isn't a Chapter in Your Community
