MinnPost Union won voluntary recognition on Thursday, after they “marched on the boss” during an online staff meeting. The reporters, support staff and business staff of the nonprofit news organization will join Minnesota Local 37002.
“We are joining @NewsGuildMN to provide a voice for the workers who make MinnPost — Minnesota’s source for high-quality, independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit news and analysis — possible,” they said.
They hope to serve readers and journalism by “becoming a place where staff can not only get a start in their careers, but stay, with more competitive — and more transparent — salaries and benefits,” giving workers a say in workplace decisions and making MinnPost a publication that better reflects the community it serves.
