Agriculture Officials Expand Meat Tests for ‘Forever Chemicals’

The U.S. Department of Agriculture next year will increase the amount and range of meats it tests to determine whether they contain PFAS, a group of chemicals of which some have been linked to cancer, a department scientist said Wednesday.

Meanwhile, two Food and Drug Administration researchers on Wednesday, speaking at the same webinar, said one particular PFAS used in microwave popcorn and pizza boxes is far more hazardous than previously thought.
