Write to Julian

Writing to Julian will uplift his spirits and it is also his protection, a form of insurance that will provide prison officials, and by extension all UK officials, material evidence of the vast support Julian commands across the world.  Demonstrating our intimate connection to Julian in this way stands to have a positive impact on his treatment both in prison and beyond.

Instructions for writing to Julian

You must include your full name and address on the back of the envelope (not like we do here in the U.S. with the address on the front, upper left corner).

Regular first class U.S. stamps can be used and cost a total of about $1.19. Best to take your letter to the post office if you are including other items like photographs or drawings.

Send short personal notes only.

Include any action you’ve taken to protect Julian.

Include a blank piece of paper with a self addressed envelope (not written in pencil) if you wish for him to write you back. Also include on the self addressed envelope two UK 1st class stamps affixed to the front of the envelope for him to use. They are red with the Queen’s profile on them in white. Do not send loose stamps.

Paper items such as letters, photos and drawings are allowed.

Books and magazines are not allowed

To buy UK stamps needed for him to reply to you – visit: royalmail.com. Stamps come in about 2 weeks and there is a shipping and handling fee. Most convenient is to buy a book of 6. Buying a few books at once by getting together with friends will save on the shipping and handling.
