Apply to be a 2019-2020 ENACT Labor Policy Fellow!

Would  you like to spend the 2019-2020 academic year gaining hands-on experience while learning how policy is made in the state of Maine? Are you interested in labor policy issues such as wages, worker’s rights,  worker’s compensation, unemployment, workforce development? Do you want to connect with lawmakers, policy advocates, and civic organizations throughout Maine working on these issues?

ENACT Labor Policy Fellows will work alongside Professor Rob Glover while researching policy issues and active legislation that they choose. Fellows will see firsthand (and participate in) the exciting process by which state law is made. And fellows will spend the year learning about a range of issues related to labor policy in the state of Maine, while connecting with other labor policy fellows in states across the country. 

This opportunity is supported by the Educational Network for Active Civic Transformation at Brandeis University, national program engaging undergraduates at colleges and universities in state-level legislative change in over 30 states. Fellows will receive a $1000 stipend and up to 6 credits for their participation in this exciting, new program!

 

Requirements & Responsibilities:

  • Open to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students in any major.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Fellows must be willing to commit to serving in this capacity for the entire 2019-2020 academic year. 
  • Fellows will be participating in regular meetings with Professor Glover and offsite meetings with legislators, policy advocates, and others (carpooling can be arranged). 

 

Benefits:

  • Earn up to 6 Political Science “independent study” credits working closely with Professor Rob Glover.
  • Fellows will receive a $1000 stipend for the 2019-2020 academic year.
  • Fellows will be compensated for any travel in their personal vehicle. 
  • A transformative, active educational experience that will prepare students for careers in law, policymaking, advocacy, political communications, and political organizing.
