Alliance of Community Trainers

The Alliance of Community Trainers is a 501c3 non-profit anti-racist educational and training collective focused on deepening the capacity of organizations, networks, collectives and movement through empowered learning.  Empowered learning comes from Paolo Freire’s work in popular education that embodies respect for all participants, mutual exchange, sharing power and learning from the lived experiences of those we work with.

ACT provides workshops, trainings, educational materials and consultation in organizational development, strategy work, nonviolent direct action, creative tactics, media, community organizing, group process, permaculture, community infrastructure to support basic needs and much, much more.   Our work is always developed in collaboration with those we work with to insure that the deepest learning is possible.

ACT was originally founded in the wake of the 1999 shutdown of the WTO in Seattle, WA.   Since then we have supported many movements working for peace.  racial, social and environmental/climate justice in the US and globally.  ACT was an early member of United for Peace and Justice serving on the Coordinating Committee for many years and continuing to act as a fiscal sponsor for UFPJ today.

Black Alliance for Peace

The Black Alliance for Peace (BAP) seeks to recapture and redevelop the historic anti-war, anti-imperialist, and pro-peace positions of the radical black movement. Through educational activities, organizing and movement support, organizations and individuals in the Alliance will work to oppose both militarized domestic state repression, and the policies of de-stabilization, subversion and the permanent war agenda of the U.S. state globally

Brooklyn For Peace

Brooklyn For Peace is a diverse network of Brooklyn residents, united by our concern for future generations.  We were founded in 1984 by nursery-school parents who were spurred into action by the U.S. invasion of Grenada. We were joined by other groups in a coalition which succeeded in deterring the Navy from opening a nuclear-capable homeport on Staten Island, and opposing U.S intervention in Central America. We subsequently incorporated as a non-profit organization, and obtained 501 c 3 status. We grew tremendously after the terrible events of September 11, 2001, as we mobilized to oppose a military response to this tragedy. We are primarily an educational organization, but we see active response to injustice as a major part of our mission. We are non-sectarian, non-partisan, mutli-issue, and open to diverse perspectives. Our distinctive contribution is speaking out against war, connecting global and local issues.  CODEPINK and CODEPINK projects

CODEPINK is is a women-led grassroots organization working to end U.S. wars and militarism, support peace and human rights initiatives, and redirect our tax dollars into healthcare, education, green jobs and other life-affirming programs. CODEPINK is all about taking action where it truly matters. We channel community grassroots democracy to where the power players are making (awful) decisions and make them listen. Wherever there is injustice, we’ll be there to highlight in bold PINK. We’re currently working on the following issue campaigns:

Divest from the War Machine: We can reduce global conflicts and slow the hyper-militarization of our world by asking individual investors and financial institutions to stop investing in companies that profit from U.S. military interventions, the global arms trade, and the militarization of our streets. Join us in asking investors, universities, religious organizations, retirement funds, mutual funds, and other financial institutions to stop making a killing on killing.

Growing Local Peace Economies: To end violence and create the beautiful world that we so long to live in, we must radically reimagine and transform our relationships so they are defined by love, and compassion. This is how we transform our war economy into a peace economy. Growing local peace economies is a revolution of values and practices.

The Feminist Foreign Policy Project:  Women face the brunt of the violence of US foreign policy. If we care about gender justice, we need an anti-imperial feminist foreign policy. Join us!

Peace with Iran: Join us in working to prevent war with Iran and end U.S. imposed sanctions that are making life extremely difficult for peace-loving Iranians.

Boycott Saudi Arabia: It’s time to sever ties with Saudi Arabia until it ends its war on Yemen and the repression of women, journalists, and people who engage in peaceful dissent.

Creating a Good Neighbor Policy with Latin America: We should revive Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Good Neighbor Policy to bring peace and cooperation with Latin America and the Caribbean, and stop US meddling in their politics. From migration, the war on drugs, poverty and the environment — we only stand to benefit from a policy that is based on peace, cooperation, and respect.

China is Not Our Enemy: The same methods used to drive us to war in Iraq are being used to drive a narrative that we should fear China. Join us in advocating for peace with China

The Peace Collective: The Peace Collective is made up of people under the age of 30 who come together for anti-imperialist education and campaigns.

The Fellowship of Reconciliation

The Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR-USA) is the oldest interfaith peace and justice organization in North America. FOR-USA is a branch of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation (ifor.org), founded in August 1914 at the outbreak of World War I, a movement with member groups in more than 50 countries across five continents that collectively advocate for nonviolent action and the rights of conscience in resistance to war and military conscription.

FOR-USA envisions a world of justice, peace, and freedom. It is a revolutionary vision of beloved community where differences are respected, conflicts are addressed nonviolently, oppressive structures are dismantled, and people live in harmony with the earth, nurtured by diverse spiritual traditions that foster compassion, solidarity and reconciliation. As an interfaith organization, FOR-USA’s mission is to inspire, organize, train, and grow a diverse movement that welcomes all people of conscience to end structures of violence and war, and create peace through the transformative power of nonviolence.

FOR-USA serves thousands of individual members, dozens of grassroots chapters and affiliates, and 20 religious peace fellowships and faith-based allied groups nationwide. To learn more and take action, visit forusa.org or any of FOR-USA’s social media channels.

Military Families Speak Out

Military Families Speak Out [MFSO] is an organization of military families across the US and around the world who are opposed to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and have a loved one currently serving in the military, who has served in the military since 9/11 or who has died as a result of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As people with loved ones in the military, we have both a special need and a unique role to play in speaking out. It is our loved ones who are, have been, or will be on the battlefront. It is our loved ones who are risking injury and death. It is our loved ones who are returning scarred from their experiences. It is our loved ones who will have to live with the injuries and deaths among innocent Iraqi civilians.

The mission of Military Families Speak Out is to advocate for all U.S. troops to leave Iraq and Afghanistan now and to speak out against unjust military interventions.  MFSO supports policies that utilize diplomacy over military force.  We support the troops and work hard to ensure that their needs are met while deployed and when they return home.

Support our Troops, Bring Them Home Now, and Take Care of Them When They Return.

Peaceworks Kansas City

Peaceworks Kansas City, based in Kansas City, Missouri works for peace locally and nationally as an affiliate of Peace Action.  We oppose war, nuclear weapons, drone warfare, racism, incarceration and the death penalty in pursuit of a healthy and just world for all people.  Our members speak up and act up in support of justice and peace, offering nonviolent witness to raise public awareness and influence policy makers.”

September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows

September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows is an organization of more than 250 members each of whom lost a relative in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. We organized in 2002, after four of our founding members returned from Afghanistan where they met with civilians whose family members were killed in the initial days of the War in Afghanistan. The central mission of Peaceful Tomorrows in our more than 19 years has been to oppose war in our relatives’ name, to reduce and demand reparations for civilian casualties, to pursue justice for the crimes of 9/11 consistent with the rules of international and U.S. law, and to close the detention facilities at the U.S. Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Our website has resources on the history of Peaceful Tomorrows and the issues we work on—https://peacefultomorrows.org/ Many of our members are available to speak about our work. Western States Legal Foundation

Western States Legal Foundation (WSLF), based in Oakland, California was founded in 1982 to provide legal support and information to the movements against nuclear power and nuclear weapons at that time. WSLF has long been committed to seeking common ground with other movements for a more fair, peaceful and democratic society in balance with the ecological rhythms of the planet. WSLF provides research and analysis on nuclear weapons and disarmament, relevant treaties and international law, the impacts of nuclear weapons research and testing, and the forces driving war and militarism. A significant part of WSLF’s work has been support of networks for peace and disarmament at the local, national and international levels. WSLF serves on the Coordinating Committees of United for Peace and Justice and the Abolition 2000 Global Network to Eliminate Nuclear Weapons.  WSLF is one of the two U.S. affiliates of the International Association of Lawyers Against Nuclear Arms. WSLF Executive Director Jacqueline Cabasso serves as North American coordinator for Mayors for Peace. Our staff and Board members are available to speak about the range of issues identified above.
