Have you missed your favorite NYC holiday musical traditions this season?
We at #SaveNYCMusicians certainly have!
Under normal circumstances, New York City is particularly magical
in December for so many reasons:
· The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center
· The Radio City Christmas Spectacular
· Handel’s ‘Messiah’ performed everywhere, from Carnegie Hall to your neighborhood church
· Broadway shows during Christmas week for the whole family
· “The Magic Flute” or “Hansel and Gretel” at the Metropolitan Opera
· Sacred choral music concerts in magnificent houses of worship
· Orchestral programs of great masterworks and light-hearted holiday favorites
· Festive holiday parties with a live band
But this year, there has been no live music.
New York City has never been quieter during the holiday season.
NYC musicians typically make a substantial chunk of their annual income in the month of December alone. Thousands of NYC musicians—most of whom have been without regular income since the start of the pandemic—are especially feeling that loss this December.
Please consider donating the price of a concert ticket to #SaveNYCMusicians this holiday season. Your generous gift will help bring hope and encouragement to the musicians who can’t wait to perform for you again.
