We did this—together.

Our community of more than 1 million grassroots members, including Swing Left Groups in more than 250 cities and towns across 40 states, came together to win back the White House, flip the Senate, and make key gains in our continued fight for a better democracy.

But our job doesn’t end here. If we’ve learned anything over the past four years, it’s that this is the work of a lifetime. We are so grateful for your dedication to building a better country, and we’re eager to stay in the fight with you, rain or shine, election after election.

Program highlights

The Big Send launched in April 2020, as a coalition led by Swing Left affiliate Vote Forward in partnership with 73 organizations with the goal of writing 10M letters to likely voters in 12 Super States. Our goal was to meet the needs of people who were looking for an effective way to increase voter turnout from the safety of home. Volunteers ended up sending more than 17.5M letters to get out the vote.

Blueprint—a streamlined platform for political giving—launched in May 2020 for Democratic donors eager to maximize their impact in 2020 and beyond. Blueprint donors contributed over $4.5M to civic organizations and Democratic candidates. In September 2020, Blueprint won a Fast Company Innovation by Design Award.

The Last Weekends brought together a coalition of 42 grassroots progressive partner organizations to enlist volunteers from across the country to help get out the vote during the last few weeks before Election Day, when voter outreach is most critical. The Last Weekends volunteers committed more than 88,000 volunteer hours.

Super State highlights

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris won back the White House.

Swing Left’s community of grassroots volunteers and donors made a big impact on the path to 270 Electoral College votes for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, especially in key states where their margin of victory was incredibly close. Even if just a fraction of voters turned out to the polls due to our volunteer actions, that makes a difference in a one- or two-point race.

Swing Left also worked with Vote Forward, an affiliated non-partisan C4 organization, to send millions of letters to voters across the country encouraging them to vote.

I'm proud of getting so many new volunteers together, both from my school in ATL but also across the state! Many of my volunteers were new to this work and afterwards, they felt like they made a difference—that really inspires me to keep going and makes the work worth it.
