The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has long promised — and failed — to set safety standards for PFAS "forever chemicals" and address widespread drinking water contamination across the country.
Long-term exposure to PFAS chemicals has been associated with health problems, including liver malfunction, birth defects, thyroid disease, weakened immunity and certain cancers.
It’s time for Congress to address the huge public health problem impacting the drinking water of communities across the country by passing the PFAS Action Act of 2021 to:
-
Set enforceable regulations to limit the amount of PFAS in drinking water;
-
Make polluters pay to clean up their contamination; and
-
Take steps to finally address the public health threat of PFAS.
Everyone deserves clean water. Urge your representative to co-sponsor the PFAS Action Act of 2021 and protect our drinking water from toxic chemicals!
